Somewhere in Between

I finally finished it!!!

Well, the characters anyway...I am planning a background for this one, but that comes later. WOW!!!

This is a birthday gift for a good friend on GaiaOnline who has been role playing my story with me, which in fact, this is a scene from. Here, an excerpt is in order:

Trying to regain his composure and not blow their cover, he turns her to face him. His hands where still at her hips as they danced, his nose seeming to flare more.


She laughed as he fumbled with his words a little, knowing he would not be able to hear her over the loud music. Her expression changed dramatically as she felt the unfamiliar feeling of butterflies in her stomach as he spun her around to face him again, her hair fanning out in a fiery blaze which came to rest in its straight long strands that framed her face so perfectly. She tried to keep her momentum going but found her movements were becoming slightly slower and a lot less smooth, something she was sure he would notice. Not wanting to seem too out of place, she leaned back a bit from her waist and then rolled her chest back in toward him, her hands sliding up his chest as she came back to a normal stance with him. Her palms felt every well toned muscle he had created, her green eyes peering up into his with a shy boldness.


Kumouri had noticed her becoming slower and not as smooth, and perhapes that was what kept him aware of their surrounding. But with her rolling back and then against him, and the feel of her hands sliding up his chest, his focus shifted. His gaze was as intence as always, but that intence gaze was locked into her eyes. One hand remained at her hip, or rather it looped around her waist, while the other hand moved up her back. His fingers flexing some, he was actually caressing her back. yet that simple motion would have seemed so natural that maybe, he wasn't aware he was doing so.


Her eyes wouldn't look away from his, more like couldn't. His hand on her bare back was electric, sending impulsive thoughts to her brain that she had long since forgotten. She was aware now that they were dangerously walking on the thin line of what was for show and what was real. Her conflicting mind telling her to distance herself, but the locked up animal instincts inside her told her to continue. All rational thoughts were starting to fade from her mind as she allowed herself to remain where she was.


Kumouri's disciplined mind was starting to give way to something both familiar and yet strange, desire. He'd felt desire before, but it was desire for revenge, a burning hate that drove him on his quest for revenge. But this desire was far different from that, it was warm yes, but a comforting kind of warmth. The closer he physically was to Aliehs, the more intence the feeling. His rational mind screamed for him to stop and return to the mission at hand, but something stronger drove him now. His head was reflexively leaning close to Aliehs'. His mouth so close to hers, whiskers folding back. His dancing had slowed about as much as her's, both seeming to be on a wave length neither of them seemed to understand, but followed all the same.


Aliehs' hands were encircled gently around his neck, her finger tips playfully touching the tips of his hair. Her eyes finally waking from the spell he had cast over them as she realized what they were doing. She noticed the music no longer matched their actions making the situation all the more awkward. They were now just standing there in the thralls of what would have been when Aliehs forced her gaze away from him. His closeness was intoxicating, and she felt drunk with emotions.
