Jakesully Portrait Commission

Theres a bit of a story behind this one....

If you are an active member in the Avatar community here on the net somewhere, perhaps you have heard of or even seen pictures of the guy the web has dubbed as Mr. Avatar because of his collection of Neytiri tattoos on his back. He is a pretty die hard fan of Avatar, collecting anything and everything he can find and afford.

A friend of his came across my Avatar burnings and wanted to commission me for a Jake portrait and that she knew her friend would LOVE the Neytiri I did. So...time passed, things kept getting put off because of financial reasons and eventually Mr. Avatar contacted me and commissioned his Neytiri. When I was finished and she arrived he was so happy that he hatched up a plan to get a Jake portrait done for his friend in secret. I already had the picture she was wanting so it was just a matter of getting the wood and getting started.

I struggled over this portrait for about a month....my reference pic sucked because my printer is out of ink, and the lighting was just so difficult what with their stripped markings and blumescent dots, so in the end I just had to wing a lot of it.

I am happy with this, though I feel like it looks more like Tsu' tey than Jake, but he made it to his new home safe and sound and she absolutely loved it so thats all that matters

This is wood burning (pyrography). No color was added, just the natural tones of the wood with fire. OH! The white dots are done with a white gel pen, whoops!!
