A Shady Character Pt.2 by Aliehs A Shady Character Pt.2 by Aliehs
"How Pathetic. Too bad...for I really long for a great challenge."

Thats what I imagine this fine feline warrior saying as he leaves the scene of his opponents fallen body. You may recognize him from the headshot I drew earlier but this captures him in a different light. I was actually going to make him smiling but I found that the smile made him look too different from the original drawing I did of him. Having a serious, un-impressed look on his face made him look almost exactly like the previous drawing which is very rare for me to do. I had SO MUCH FUN WITH THIS!!!!! And it has a background! OMG!!!!! hehe. All watercolor pencils with Kumuori being outlined in a fine tipped black marker.

I was actually concerned with the stripes...I wanted them to look more realistic, like an actual tigers but I also wanted them to seem almost like tattoos. I still feel I could have made them a little furrier too.

I think they came out really good. As for the fur effect.. hmmm maybe next time huh? It's all a learning experience.

:stereo: "I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can..."

I really love the character's outfit, muscular arms, and his cold expression of accomplishment! The background and its muted colors are also very well done! ^_^

Thank you very much! This was my 1st real character that I emphasized the muscular arms and I think I was so worried about the arms that I totally neglected the hands. I was looking at a picture of the one character from the anime/manga The Getbackers (I don't know his name, I haven't had the chance to get into it yet) and it didn't come out the right way.

Very nicely done! :D I love the painterly coloration. That expression is awesome, and the silhouetted branches in the backdrop are a great touch. I also like how the purplish sky color offsets his tigery orange-yellow.

The only problem I see is that you appear to have drawn a right hand on his left arm...

You are very right there. I noticed it way more after I got it colored and added the water...which by then it was too late to do much about it. I seriously need to get those glasses...LOL!

Why we can't notice our mistakes before it's too late? XD

LOL Yes, I know...But the rest of the picture keeps me from throwing it out. Just something to watch for the next time. I am horrible with hands as it is!

I drew a pic with the entire chest off-center once... Totally didn't notice until weeks later when someone pointed it out. One of her boobs was practically in her armpit, and the other near the center! You'd think I'd notice something like that, but noooooooo. :D

LOL! Sorry. I know thats not entirely funny, but I can understand how you could kinda overlook it. As strange as this sounds...I am pretty good with boobs LOL! But I can remember my earlier ones when I was not so good...and sometimes even now when I am drawing them I can get them a bit off because I am not paying too much attention. But...thats what commenters are for! They help you catch that which you may not have seen...in this case...I was aware but too happy to care hehe.

I would submit a piece knowing it had a big glaring mistake if it was this good. It actually wasn't that glaring of a mistake, though. I had stared at it for quite a while. I think it was chance that I even noticed, since both the hand and the arm look so natural!

That crazy-boob piece was from back in early 2005. I'm not perfect by any means, but now I avoid many of the mistakes I used to make all the time. Used to have this thing where I couldn't get both upper arms to be the same length! Glad I seem to have conquered that one.

About the arm thing, a guy I met on here taught me a very useful thing that I find myself using almost everytime I draw a character to which their arms or legs are visable. The length from the shoulder to the elbow is the same length from the elbow to the wrist. So I just measure that out with my fingers to make sure I have gotten it right. But that rule applies to the legs as well. Just something to maybe remember or experiment with. *winks*

I am totally adding you to my friends list and am going to visit your gallery because you have provided so much crituqe and comments! hehe.
